S.P.I.R.E. is a structured literacy based reading intervention program designed to help your struggling readers, dyslexic students, and at-risk learners. During this intensive workshop the trainer will provide specific strategies for multi-sensory teaching through the program’s explicit 10-Step Lesson Plan and its unique scope and sequence. Trainers will model and have participants practice with instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, spelling, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and assessment. The workshop will focus on correct sound/symbol relationships, specific strategies for multi-sensory teaching, and how to develop a sound foundation for non-readers and struggling readers.

In this one-day workshop, you will learn about:

• Hands-on practice with the in-depth teaching strategies in the S.P.I.R.E. 4E STAR program

• Providing the structure, content, and differentiation opportunities that lead to reading success

• Assessment and progress monitoring to facilitate dramatic improvement in reading proficiency

• Placing students at the appropriate instructional level and pacing
